I have a book in my possession dated 1926, which was written about different things of the world. one of the things is the diamond.it states seventy five years prior a man by the name of Henry D.Morse designed the brilliant cut. 58 facets.33 above 25 below. and it is now the cut that is used even to this day. he perfected it and used it,but Tolkowsky got credit for creating it. Some have said that Morse did it by trial and error yet the book i have states he did mathmatical specs to get his idea. if cut too deep the stone was called lumpy and too shallow it was called fish eyes.No wonder gems that have been cut in the so called modern brilliant have been appraised incorrectly by stating the cut was too new to be old when in reality it probably was done in the 1800's instead of the 1900's.LJShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04140117999472610107noreply@blogger.com
